Matt,
   I have a Carter AFB 650 cfm on my Scout 345 spreadbore. I am very
happy with it. I got around 18 MPG on the way home from Ohio running
70+. I haven't done anything to it like change jets or rods. I should
have gone with the 500 cfm but at the time Summit didn't have a 500 in
thier catalog and I needed the carb RIGHT NOW. The only weakness of the
650 on the 345 is you can't jam the throttle open. You have to easy into
the first throttle at first. You will get a feel for it as you drive it
and know what to do to combat this. I have no problem launching off the
line at a red light to show off.
