Anyway, the way I fix these things is,
I pull the drivers side tire.
Drill a 3/4" hole or larger, in the inner fender below the power booster.
Fenagle a flashlight up above the booster so that it shines on the latch.
With a long screwdriver, put your arm up under the inner fender, through all
the crap, and pry on the latch tongue. It helps to have a skinny arm and be
left handed.
It helps to have another person pry on the hood when you do get the latch
out enough.
The key is to not pry on the hood to soon or it makes the tongue hard to
move.
When you are done you will have a bright red, sore spot n the top of your
forearm from the corner of the block.

Dan,
I've had good success by taking my a drill or grinder and making a hole
in the hood foward of the latch and off to the side.
I then use the same grinder, or perhaps the Sawzall, to cut a square
section of hood to the front, sides, and ultimately rear, of the hood
latching pin.
That usually seems to do the trick, and the hood opens pretty easily -
just make sure you wear gloves, or you'll shred your fingers on the new
hood hole.
