OK, all.. Thanks for the great, informative responses.

The Warn overdrive unit works with the Dana 18 pictured in the auction, but
not the Dana 20 in my Scout. Given that, and the fact the seller can't or
won't answer my questions re: what the tranny is, what engine it was behind,
or even how many forward gears it has, I've decided to let this go. Also, to
buy the whole pile, or even just the T/C and O/D combo, would likely put
shipping costs over the top, so... that and his silence make this a
forgotten deal.

The whole reason I'm looking into this is that my "new" Scout is geared very
low. I don't know the ratios - they're not specified on the lineset, and the
tags are missing, and I haven't opened it up to count teeth yet. But it's a
real banshee to my ear at speeds above 40ish. Maybe I'm spoiled by the T-34
in my Travelall... Anyway, I think an overdrive would be nice.

I appreciate the references to www.hermtheoverdriveguy.com. That looks worth
a look. Have any of you dealt with Herm?
