[ihc] 6 to 8 lug conversion contd.
Allan E and I have speculated for some time that the hubs from 6 lug and 8
lug rear D60's(IH applications) might interchange, so you wouldn't have to
swap out the whole axle. I want to say that Allan has more intel on that, I
just can't remember what it was. Hofs? 8^P
///////Uh oh Jim! Now you've got me going! <IF> this idea did work, you are obviously talking about D60 1 ton hubs and drums...right? Not D60 3/4 ton stuff? Although the hub might be the same...If so, I think I will check it on Friday. I have a IH D60 3/4 ton rear I can use for parts./////
Can tell you for SURE that, in the case of the RA15's, the extra size in
the center hole of the wheels was FILLED with hub, as well as much larger
wheel bearings. I believe the spindle was larger OD as well, but not
positive on that. I DO know that the nuts that retain the wheel bearings
are different, though.
On the FA-58 (Dana 70F)--either type of hub would go on the same spindle.

/////////I always thought that the 68 and older fronts had bigger bearings. The inside diameter must be the same...right? All this stuff has to come off an IH axle right?
