Subject: Re: [ihc] Mandera side mount
I was getting ready to do some custom cabling (re-do the winch cables)
when this topic came up. I have
access to welding cable and the appropriate lugs, but what is used to
attach the lugs to the cable ? I have a mental picture of a crimping
tool that I would have to run over in the scout to squeeze the contacts
Hi Jerry -
Picture a *big* set of pliers with compound leverage jaws, or a hydraulic
unit. Surf on over to mcmaster.com and search on 'compression lug crimpers'
for a selection. 'Tho it's not the 'right' way to do the job, I've never had
a problem soldering the connections with a propane torch. I put a couple
layers of shrink wrap over the outside after smearing some dielectric grease
on the gap between the insulation and the lug.
IHWR this year? :) The Bindertown BBQ's making it's 2nd appearance!
