HI All,
It seems I still have wiring issues on the my tail lights. Here's the deal,
as succinctly as I can state it:
1) The FRONT signals are a-ok at all times. Running lights/signals work as
desired.
2) ALL REAR turn signals work.
3) NO RIGHT REAR (Passenger side) running or brake light.
4) NO LEFT REAR (Driver side) brake light.
Fresh 1157 bulbs, properly inserted, on both sides.
Examined & cleaned any obvious potential ground probs (ground tab on tail
lights, cleaned & sprayed module connector (black plug/socket connector).
IIRC, The primary players were a brown, black and red wire. Also, I _think_
on the plug connector, there was one more socket than plugs or vice-versa.
It seemed one side was solid (or almost so), but the other side was composed
of 2 or more 'clumps'. Soo, it seemed to me there was more than one
possible way to plug in some of the individual plugs into the socket(s).
There were also two (or 3?) different DIAMETER plugs/holes. So SOME of the
guesswork can be eliminated (i.e.: The big plug won't go in the small hole,
etc.) - but just curious. Can I say, "If the plug fits, it's ok to plug it
there" (keep it clean, boys & girls!)? Or is it very possible to "haywire"
the brake lights to the signal lights, or whatever?
Yup... To compound problems, it seems my DVM (my beloved Fluke 87) went the
way of the old tow strap! I hope somebody somewhere is enjoying it... %^/
Maybe it'll turn up sooner or later.
I might think I have a (common) brake light problem... More homework
required there...
BUT THE NO RIGHT SIDE RUNNING LIGHT IS EATING MY LUNCH (and getting unwanted
'attention' at night)!
I s'pose, if 'push comes to shove', I _could_ (reluctantly) splice in to the
other driver side running light, since there should be no difference in
behaivor. But knowing the color code here would help!
Got a "warning" citation ($0) from one of our hometown boys in black the
other night, arrrrghhh! Frankly, I think he just wanted to look the Scout
over! He made a few comments ("A friend of mine used to have one of these,
we loved that truck...", etc.)
And I haven't even mentioned back-up lights...
Meanwhile, any help & tips appreciated!
--Pete
