Actually, MN's about 2/3 the continentaway  from WA.  I didn't ask the
guy about transfers and districts, as I figured it was their business
and not mine, but I did describe the package pretty completely.  If he
suspected it contained fluids or wastes (which it doesn't), he was
making that connection on his own and not telling me.

I think we've all encountered guys who don't put a lot of effort into
thinking through how they could get the business, though; and I sure
could have gotten one.

Also, we have an established account with fedex that makes all the
communications very simple, and I and the buyer can track through the
internet.

Chicago to Alabama (900+ miles) would run me $80. That is transporting
from
USF Holland to USF Dugan... IIRC (changing hands once regardless). When
they
have to transfer the package/cargo over to the other district is when

price makes drastic changes. You obviously didn't notify them that it
was
auto parts class, or you didn't drain the fluids which would then be
considered hazardous waste, but seeing as it was an engine block, I
would
say that somehow it wasn't classed as automotive parts (#85 IIRC). Not
being
to good at geography these days, isn't MN extremely close to WA (300
miles?)? and If they are about the same Latitude on the grid and in the
same
district for say... USF Bestway, then they wouldn't even have to
transfer to
another department.
