I concur with joel on that one... normal P/S noise when it's working
correctly... kind of like the noise you hear when a backhoe is operating? IE
hydraulics?

I also vote to check the tightness of the belts.

I assumed that since his was a right hand drive, IH would have sleeved that
side, is this not the case?

That last part about the steering wheel alignment worries me... I'd try to
figure that out right away, I vote for the steering box splines in the
input, I'm going to assume that could mean the splines are all messed up
now?  (credit goes to Joel, because I would never have thought of that one).
Look really closely at all your steering linkage stuff etc and especially at
that input...
