For this application, a pump is a pump is a pump. Anything in the ball park
that will bolt up will work. PS pumps used in chevy and dodge pickups, for
example, only look different. The amount of volume they can produce is about
the same.

You can use a bigger pump. You can use a transmission cooler to cool the
fluid.

I use a huge pump on my school bus. It also provides boost for the brake
system, because there is no vacuum pump on the diesel engine. When it's not
being turned, no pressure is needed. The system only uses the pressure it
needs at the time. Big enough is fine. Too big is not a problem. Too small,
like from a little bitty car, is a problem due to heat build up.
