I didn't ask, but I did take a look at it from the bottom.  I can ask
though, next time I see him, how he made the adapter.  He's the first person
I've heard of actually getting it done.  He said he's glad he has a direct
5th tranny, because as it is he doesn't even really use 5th gear.
Apparently, even with low axle gearing, 40" tires make you have low rpms on
the highway...
