Tom,
With this piece of info, Either you didn't seat the torque converter
all the way so as to grab the pump teeth, or you have a blockage in your
fluid passages.
The first is highly unlikely, the tranny shouldn't bolt up if the
torque converter wasn't seated, it would stick out about 1".
Did you use your air blow gun to blast out each passage way in the
casing and stuff? Again, if your buddy was warping the steels from
raseing then he may have a passage or three clogged. Pull the pan and
valve body and blow air through the passages you see under the bell
housing area.
Lastly, and worst case, the pump teeth may have sheared off and you
didn't notice, and the tc isn't turning anything because it cant.
