Sounds like you are low on fluid Tom. This also sounds like you have a
high stall converter. I am leaning more toward the low fluid. The way I
check the fluid is to cycle the tranny through R and D then into Park
and check the fluid. This is easier than trying to guess where N is and
getting run over when you add enough fluid for it to engage and drive
over you.
