MIG welding aluminum

  Has anyone MIG welded aluminum with the small 110V welders?   My Hobart
Handler instruction book says it'll do it.  The dealer says don't waste
your time.....not enough amperage and won't feed the aluminum wire.   I
know I need argon gas, but I also wonder whether it'll even feed the
aluminum without a spool gun (big bucks).  Apparently, small diameter
aluminum is hard to feed without the  spool gun, it tends to kink up
instead of being pushed through the liner cable.

 So, has anyone tried this?
