Consider this: Instead of dining out and going to the comedy club, the new
yuppie thing is "cocooning" which means staying home to read by the fire.

I know that in the muscle car world, there was more than one wall street
type, that quit their day jobs, and went out and bought 30 or 40 very rare
muscle cars, restored them and then put their "collection" up for public
viewing. That is also the time when the prices for everything from repo
parts to NOS to whole cars went from reasonable-if-you-know-how-to-scrounge
(or "Scout like" if you prefer) to too expensive if you have to ask (or
"SUV like" if you prefer).
