Scout no go

This morning my Scout II bogged down and/or stalled when I gave it gas.
When in neutral it would rev just fine but when in gear it wouldn't go
unless I went really slow and worked up to speed slowly and even then it
wouldn't go for long.  So my friends recommended that I replace the fuel
filter, so I did and now it runs fine but only for about a minute then it
just shuts down and is a pita to start again.  Any advice would be helpfull.
