Fuel sender Follies

I ended up dropping the tank today and accessing the fuel sender that way.
I just couldn't bring myself to add more holes in the floor. The problem
turned out to be the copper contact arm attached to the float arm. it had
gotten stuck in the oppostite contact which consists of very small wires
wrapped around a tapering piece of (plastic?) anyway I re-attached the
piece with standard electrical solder and bent the tip so that it won't
work it's way under the wires again. seems to work great now. and dropping
the tank wasn't easy but it wasn't hard either.

On a side note the tank was pristine clean inside, not a drop of rust. It
looked like there might be a few grams of dirt in there but I didn't do
anything, I'll let the filters do their job

Thanks for the advice,
