The power for your headlights goes through the dimmer switch (I beleive -
no manual in front of me). This was common years ago. Problem is, you can
wear a short in the power wires under the carpet with your foot, the switch
can go bad, it can get wet, etc. etc. You need to pull up the carpet and
look at the switch and the wiring to it for such problems.
