There was a unit for Bronco '20s.. supposedly it can be used on the
SIIs.. and there is a company that has made a few new ones and might
make new ones again..

Should be interchangeable, but the '18 is a weaker design and more prone
to wear and tear.

How about asking someone with a 1980 Scout II with 2.72 gears how
awesome the mileage is?

At over $1k per, is there a big market?
How about.. 2.72 gears in the diffs.. and run a dual transfer case
setup.. leave the t'case in 2-low most of the time, and you'll have 5.44
gears for around town.. stop, kick it into HIGH, and cruise down the
Interstate...
I've all but given up the dream of an OD.. gear it a little tall, and
run lower transfer cases.. maybe 3.54 gears and 33s.. or something.
(I'm currently running 4.09s and 33s.. and maybe it'll be 4.09s and 36s
on the other Scout..)
