Sticking lifter

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents.
Most of the lifters I've had "stick" on me
have been in the collapsed position, which
would be accompanied by a loud clacking.
I'd tend to agree with John L. regarding
the bent/burnt valve scenario if you're
getting an intermittent back-pressure
through the carb while the motor's running.
Not saying it's not possible for a lifter
to stick at full extension, just uncommon
to my experience.
