When installing the O2 sensor, weld the bung in as close as you can to the
manifold.  If your system has a one or two wire O2 sensor, it isn't heated
and has to stay above 600 deg F to work properly.  If it is a three or
four wire sensor, it is heated and can be located farther down the pipe.
