Ken,

I've used a reciever mounted bike rack on my Aerostar for years.  Mine is
for 3 bikes.  Works great I highly recommend it.  If you use at least a
class II hitch 4 bikes should be no problem.

On my bumper I made the bumper wide enough so the posts for the gate just
go straight up outside of the taillights.  The bumper is actually no wider
than the body. It really fits nice.  The posts drop into pockets so they
can be removed, or switched for something like a tall set of racks for
ladders, or a canoe.
