Re: Bogus lineset?
Roy,
<< IHers:
Here's a question for you. The lineset from my Scout shows 14014 for the rear
axle.
That's the code for an RA-14 w/Powr-Lok. When I opened the diff up to replace
the spider gears, I realized that it's an open diff, not a Powr-Lok.
Have linesets been known to be incorrect or has some PO replaced the rear axle
with an open diff?
At least it has the same ratio as the front axle.

I think they must at times be incorrect. My line setting ticket shows I have
this:
05008 Gemmer 24J Manual steering gear-Scout II, Scout 800A/B w/6 & V-8, 68
LL
But if I was to guess, based on my eyes, I'd say it more likely has this:
05281 Saginaw 700D Power Steering-Scout II, Light Line
I have a 1974 Scout II with 345 V8, and power steering. It looks just like the
ones on most of the older 1970-80 power steering equipped GM cars I've seen.
