Are the open and closed faced clutch pressure plate assemblies
interchangeable on an 800?

I purchased an NOS pressure plate, it is an open face design, whereas the
one that was on the engine is a closed face.  It bolts up to the flywheel
just fine, however, there were three metal "H" shaped pieces packed with the
pressure plate.  They are metal stampings approx. 1/8" thick in the shape of
an "H", about 1 1/4 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches high.  They were packed
under the three bolts on the pressure plate.  Do they need to be installed
somehow, or are the just for shipping.

Chilton makes reference to using a spacer under the bolts before removing
the clutch assembly from the flywheel, is this what the pieces are for?
