Michael,

  Welder's Handbook, HPBooks, by Richard Finch, $16.95.  Large format
paperback.

  The author mentions that if he had to make a choice of only one type of
welder, he'd go for an acetylene torch.  Not sure that'd be my choice.  He
does a good job of covering all types of welders, stick, mig, tig, gas,
plasma.

  Incidently, all three 800 bodies (my '67, '68 & '70 patch panel donors)
that I've welded on had galvanized rear quarters.  Galvanized bodies aren't
easy to weld.  You can try and grind it clean, most likely there'll be
enough residue left to make welding difficult.  With mig you have to jack
up the juice so high it burns through the metal if you're not real careful.
 Gas or tig are easier cause you have more control.
