Then I guess Carroll Smith better talk to all the automotive engineers that
designed connecting rod bolts to *locate* and *clamp* the large end bearing
cap. On many engines, the IH being one of them, connecting rod bolts
provide a very precise fit (less than .0005" play) for the locating the
bearing cap in addition to the clamping forces.
