Uh, I hate to say this because the guy obviously did such a careful job on
his Scout...

But in general, if the aluminum pop-rivets see any moisture at all they'll
immediately eat the steel around them and pop back out.

So it's safer to use steel pop rivets.  Gives you Arnie S. hands, too.
