Re: JC Whitney greasable ball joints
Hey Tom,
sorry for the slow response on this one. I just got around to catching up
on my e-mail. I installed those ball joints on my 76 Terra. I'm very
happy with the quality. If I remember right, NAPA was asking about $35 for
one ball joint. I can't remember if the ones JC Whitney has were in a
brand named box or not, but they weren't cheap pot metal. They were
definitely worth the money. (All that legal crap implies, eg I'm not
affiliated with nor get commission from nor date the president's daughter
of JC Whitney)
Once I got the old ones out (have fun with that task), the new ones popped
right in. What's nice about them is that they come with a plug so you can
remove the zerk fitting and thread in this small plug so that the fitting
won't be crushed while off-roading.
I think one of my plugs had a damaged thread, which was easily fixed.
Looks like it occurred during shipping. JC Whitney has really skimped over
the years on their packing materials. They use newspaper now, and half the
time they don't even bother to unfold it and crumple it up. I guess it's
kind of nice getting a pristine newspaper from Chicago :-) But back to
what you were asking. The ball joints were high quality.
Ok, I'll shut-up now and get back to work. Hope this message doesn't reach
you too late.
See ya,
John
