Dean,

I'd bet if you look closely, you will find that ball joints, tie rod 
ends, drag link, steering box, rag joint.  Some of this is loose.  Find 
the offending pieces and replace.  I did on my '79.  Drives fine.  Your 
'80 will be better because it has some built in positive caster.
