Use the dolly.  Too much truck for a single axle trailer.  Definitely put
the parts in the pickup.  Are you sure the extra trans is a 727?  It may
take a lot of work to make use of it, as the original transmission in a
68 would be the Borg Warner unless it's been swapped.  And definitely
drop the driveline with an automatic.

One comment on flat-towing a Scout.  At the Nationals, I overheard
someone asking the question about the T/C and hubs.  The answer was to
put the T/C in neutral and leave the hubs UNLOCKED.  Since I knew the guy
pretty well, I pulled out my owners manual and showed him where it said
hubs locked.  He was glad to find out what was recommended, but commented
he had probably towed his Scout 30,000 miles behind his motor home with
no problems.  

I guess the problem of not getting lube to the rear output bearing while
towing isn't too serious, although I'll still lock my hubs if I tow mine
just in case.
