Water Injection Question



IH all,
Sorry I have been lurking lately, but work is in max overdrive right
now, but at least that means more money for the scout addiction,  I mean
hobby.  <grin>  Okay, has anyone out there fooled around with water
injection before on non turbo engines?  Could you give me the run down
on the benifits, and operation of the unit, ie do you have it inject
water only at high power situations?  I assume it does not run at idle
conditions.  I am not so much worried as how you control it, but when
you want to use it.  Will it let you run your timing more advanced, do
you want to advance your timeing to take advantage of this?  From what I
understand, the water injection will help you prevent predetonation.  I
have been out to the sites that were posted last week about water
injection, but those were for turbo applications.  What would be the
differance.  Why aren't water injectors used more commonly?  BTW, if
anyone has a set of installation instructions for a holley water
injection system, can you send me a copy of them?
