RobertShaw Thermostats, GVWRs
Thermostats:
Note that if you go to the RobertShaw website
(http://www.robertshaw.com) there is no indication
that they even make thermostats for automotive
applications.
GVWR:
Tom and Curt, my 1210 pickup has a door plate and line sheet
that indicates a GVWR of only 6300. But, the lowest
component on the linesheet is 2900 front and 4120
rear. How they came up with only 6300 I don't know.
I do know that the truck weighs about 5500 empty,
and it has hauled a 3000+ camper almost all its
life. And even 4200 in "manrocks" for a retaining
wall once. So, yes, I think IHC GVWR ratings
are conservative, and they are also ratings that mean
continuous duty at that weight. Not so with
GVWR ratings for pickups from Chevy, Ford, and
Dodge, in my opinion. Those guys give a rating
and should say "for short trips, and only when there is
full moon should you carry this weight..."
