BB Classified ad- truck disc brake thread, 80/800 disc swap problems

I suppose anybody interested in this thread noticed that there
is an ad for a 74/75 front 4wd axle with all the disc brake
stuff. This axle will bolt into the '69-73 trucks (the rear won't,
though, I think we concluded??).. so now's your chance.
Doesn't list a ratio.

For the 80/800 guy: what do you mean by "doesn't release?"
Brakes, disc and drum, are responsible for
releasing themselves. Disk brakes always drag a bit.

If the dragging is a lot worse than a "bit," you have a problem
but it shouldn't be hydraulic (you can convince yourself
of that by just unscrewing the line from the caliper. Are you binding on something? Are your pins clean?

If you unscrew the line and the caliper pops free, then I guess
you were right. In order to release, the brake has to push
the fluid out, so too tight a line restriction (like a proprotioning
valve) for a given caliper would cause this problem. Does the brake eventually (like 10 minutes later) appear to have released??

In any case the proportioning valve is supposed to be on the REAR. You did say that the front brakes are tied to the wrong reservoir, so the whole thing may be backwards.

I don't know how you tell the front ports from the rear ports
(where the proportioning restriction is) on the distribution block
for a Scout (anybody?)
