I cited GM selling cars with only 1 bar, but I could have looked much
closer
to the digest topic - the Scout only has 1 anti-sway device; the plate
between the front shackles.
Hey, I have some understanding of suspension design; I won a regional
Auto-X
championship when the other Tom (M.) was playing with Hot Wheels :)

Bob,
Let me clarify the statement from Quikcor. I saw him at a car show. I
asked him about sway bars for my '67 800. He looked the rig over, asked
some questions and took a bunch of measurements. One of the bars he was
going to adapt was from a Mustang (which he had in stock). The other bar
would be custom made. So, being my usual impatient self, I said I'll pay
in full now and give me the Mustang bar. And call me in a couple of weeks
when the other one is made.
No deal, he says. He won't allow me to have only one bar on the vehicle.
He claimed it would be a dangerous situation. That's all I know about it.
He may be ultra cautious from a liability standpoint. I just don't
know. I know for sure he wanted nothing to do with a situation where I
would install only one of his bars while I was waiting for the other.
Now, if all you vehicle handling gurus think the single sway bar issue is
BS, you haven't seen anything yet. I heard a blurb on the radio the other
day about studded snow tires. Turns out there is some legal precedent
determining that driving a vehicle with only two studded tires is a hazard.
Consequently, Costco and other high volume tire dealers likely will not
sell or install ONLY two studded tires on a vehicle this winter. It's all
four wheeels or none.
Doug, with no sway bars or studs.
