727 band adjustment specs
Digesters,
Here are the specs from the factory manual (78,79,80) for
band adjustment for the T-407 (ie 727):
Applies for both Kickdown band and low-reverse band.
1) Loosen lock nut and ensure the adjusting nut free turns.
2) Torque adjusting nut to 10 ft-lbs.
3) Loosen adjusting nut 2 1/4 turns for V8 and V6 engines.
Loosen adjusting nut 2 3/4 turns for 4 cyl. engines.
4) Keep adjusting nut from turning and tighten locking nut.
Note: Kickdown band adjustment is on outside of tranny near
the shifter cable.
Low-reverse band adjustment is on inside of tranny
behind the filter.
Here is some info from the Troubleshooting Section

My understanding of "Slip" is when in a gear and with a load
ie. up a hill or rise or when appling more gas the engine speed
increases but the vehicle speed stays the same or falls off.
It's like you hear the rpm's go up but you aren't going anywhere.
I'm not so sure about "Runaway" but I think it's when the tranny
is shifting between gears, from 2nd to 3rd and you get kind of
the same effect. The rpm's go up and then after some delay you
jump into the next gear.
Is this right?
I look forward to your replies.
