Self adjusting rear brakes

Although the lower part of the brakes is actuated by the
self-adjuster, the pistons also move outward as the brakes
wear.

In fact, if you're a recent purchaser of an old vehicle, this
can screw you. You replace the brake pads, and a few
weeks later your cylinders are leaking. This is because the
cylinder has corroded and roughened up behind the seal,
and when the piston returns to that area of use it quickly
gets worn out.

The reason for regular brake fluid changes (do as I say, not
as I do!!)
