Well, here's a little info for everyone.. part of my list of lift figures
(more needs added still.. priorities, y'know)
Bob Blair, Skyjacker 4" - front 6.5" and rear 6.5" from tube to 'stop brackets.
I had 7.5" front, 6.5" rear.
(stock on MY '77 (not the Glancy 300 miler yet) was 3.5 and 4.5"
I put 2" longer (5" eye to eye) rear shackles on, and my figure went to 8"
of clearance between the axle and bump stop brackets.
The one Triangle figure I've put in (Rich Reinhart I believe) measured 6.5"
and 8".
So I say my 4" Skyjacker netted MORE front lift (these figures were with the
196, BTW) than any other kit I've received figures on. But the Skyjacker
was low in the rear. With the +2" shackles, my Scout sits with the front 1"
higher than a Triangle, but the rear is even (8" and 8")
It (shackles) made a huge improvement in the rig's stance, and brought the
back up a lot... still not butt-high, but not so extremely nose high either.
As for adding a stock leaf into the Skyjacker pack.... if I were to *add*
leaves, I'd probably send Skyjacker my $65 and complain awfullly loudly
while doing so, and get the custom add-a-leaf from them.
But, I think a stock spring spring-over w/ a leaf removed (or use non-XLC
springs, which I have a set of I traded for) would be, for me, a better
solution. Heck, I might stop mangling my shock mounts then...
