International Marine Engines

Tom,

You are correct about IH building 392's for marine applications. I have
received several requests about this as well. Howard & I talked about this,
and I think the engine group was looking at expanding the market and that
is why they got involved in this. If I remember right, it was in the
1968-72 time slot. I haven't ever found any data sheets or sales
engineering bulletins explaining the exact specifics of the deal, but I am
sure there is some out there somewhere. Come to think of it,. I have a
couple of cartons of technical information on power units. I'll have to
look that over when I get a chance and see if there is any mention in there
about them.

Subject: International M392 Marine Engine

Harvesters,

Some of you already know that I've been seeking any information that would
lead me to conclude that any of the IH V8's were used in marine service in
boats. From the following, apparently it is *true* that the 392 was used
in Egg Harbor Yachts, I believe made in New Jersey. Obviously the idea of
putting a 392 into either a replica hull or into an old hull that was
missing it's original engine is only a dream at this point but something I
eventually want to do. Also, it appears the boat below used two engines
and is 37 feet long. I'm thinking of a wooden runabout around 20 feet with
only one engine.
