Cup of water
Actually, the cup of water technique is fairly well accepted.
It is, of course, not for oiling but for removing built-up carbon.
Supposedly the water turns to steam and cracks the carbon
build up.
I DID try it at home when I was much younger
-on my dad's car <g>.
Didn't hurt anything, but I didn't get the promised big clouds
of black smoke.
It's more fun and just as effective to simply
drive like a bat out of hell.
Maybe that's why my Dad's car didn't need it- unknown to
him, of course.
