Re: Motor Mounts & Straight Steer

John:

First symptom is usually a "ticking" sound as the fan blades contact the fan
shroud whenever the motor "rocks up" from the torque load. Busted fan
shrouds are a pretty sure sign.

Another sign is excessive "rocking" of the transmission and transfer case
shifters inside the cab -- whenever torque is applied and removed from the
drivetrain. The motor itself is subjected to that "equal & opposite" thing
<g>.

I've got some pics of my rig in truck pulls . . .

With my soft & squishy suspension, the rear end squats right down, and the
engine torque twists the whole body (driver's side high). The whole motor,
body and frame are twisted about 12" higher on the driver's side when I'm
*really* pulling hard. Without decent motor mounts, I'm convinced that the
motor would jump right out of the engine compartment.

Regards,

Bill
