scout car audio?!?

I am wanting to install a cd player in my dash of my 1977 IH scout II
traveller, also install new door speakers, and 6"x9" in the back seat.  How
would I go about doing this? Has anyone done this before? would it be best to
do it myself or take it to an electronics store? how would I cut out the dash
for the player and wire everything up? Thanks,
