Pertronix Ignitor Explanation

Landry's-Laundry-List had the following notation:

>/ dwell meter I have won't correctly display the true engine rpm since
>installing the Ignitor.

John, that was an excellent explanation. It also is convincing enough to
me to explain why my cheap voltage-seeking tachometer won't read correctly
on the AMC 258 on the RHD Scout. This engine has a Mallory Unilite
distributor that probably utilizes a similar circuit to the Pertronix. I
*do* know this; I got poked when I touched the *primary* of the coil. Felt
like about 400 VDC <bg>.

Oh, and John, thanks for the comment about "Going Postal"

Tom ("Going Postal" in a RHD Scout) Lang
