travelalls and lifts

I have an appointment this saturday to look at two travelalls that are
being sold as parts trucks. One is a '73 1010 auto and the other is a
'74 200 4x4. Don't know yet if they're being parted out or if they want
to sell the entire truck, but if anyone is looking for anything in
particular let me know and i'll check on it for you. They're located in
KC Mo, so body parts are probably shot.
On the subject of lifting the '69 t'all, i'd round up a set of 3/4 ton
springs and mounts. When I lifted my '74 200 pickup, I had the local
navistar dealer rearch the front springs and add a leaf to bring the
total lift to 2.5" over stock. I then added 2" lift blocks from the
local 4x4 shop to the rear axle, and modified the stepside bed mounts to
gain about 2" of lift there. This allows me to run 38.5's with no
problem, and in the ten plus years since i've done it I haven't had
problems with sagging springs or bottoming the springs out (note that I
don't attempt a lot of jumps though!), and the truck did see extensive
farm use. With the 3/4 ton springs and the above mods, you should have
no problem fitting bigger meats on that beast. Back to lurking.
John
