Scout lives agian

Dear fellow scouters,

The Scout accualy moved under its own power last night, thanks to lots
of starting fluid and grany low, I managed to drive it up the street and back.

Replacing my gold box got rid of my electrical problems. When I first tested
it, after replacing the gold box, It still didnt have a spark. Disapointed,
I started cleaning up my tools. Underneath a pile of wrenches and screwdrivers
I found my distributer rotor! (not sure if im using right word) I pop that back on
and It fires right up. That bright and shiny new gold box sure looks good on
my firewall. Now if i could only get rid of my gasoline gremlins....

After puting my trany back on with longer throwout bearing retainer,
my fingers were STILL too far in to work right. The only thing it could be now
is a too thick clutch. I wasnt about to take the trany off for the 3rd time.
So instead, I put .080" washers in between the pressure plate and the flywheel.
The clutch works fine now. It accualy feels like a clutch now. The pedal pressure
is preety light for such a heavy duty-looking pressure plate, It feels about the
same as other old 4X4's ive driven.

Now all that remains is the exaust, the gas problem (probably cloging in
carb or H20), a long overdue emmision and saftey inspection, and replacing the
dashboard. I am considering making my own easily-removable dash board out of
wood or whatever.

Thanks to Tom, Ian, Steve, and everyboy else who's sugestions made
my conversion to a 4spd possible.
