My solution - The 5-piece bolt-together roll bar from G.U.S. was
installed, and I put a longer Grade 8 bolt through the main "leg" on the
driver's side. This bolt protrudes towards the back of my head a couple
inches.

By moving the "D" thingy at the top of my Hi-Lift down one notch, or just
letting it flip upside-down, the jack fits great.

I place the base of the jack on the floor, then swing the jack body up
and towards the roll bar. The longer bolt slips right through the jack
body. Top it all off with a wing-nut.

Not sure what'll happen when I install shoulder harnesses in the '77..
and, I looked at my '72, with another G.U.S. 5-piece bar (from one year
earlier) and the bolt for the upright legs goes across, not forward/backward.

Then you can use the under-hood at the firewall space for a shovel, per
Howard's recommendation. One caveat - when I'm in 4-lo, the shifter knob
hits the hood release.. oops! Solution? I'll be twin-sticking the Dana 20!
