Joel,
Crimp connectors are very common for critical electrical connections in the
military. As discussed previously the problem with soldered connections is
that they can't withstand vibration. Which is less of a concern for a
missile with a short 25 minute flight compared to a vehicle being operated
for hundreds of hours each year.
