brake drums... can't get 'em off

Hi...

After spending several hours unsuccessfully
trying to remove a rear brake drum from
my '73 1210 pickup, I've given up.

Here's as far as I've gone:

removed wheel
removed axle shaft (broke one of the
bolts, too.. yippie...)
bent back tangs on star locknut
removed adjusting nuts, star locknut, 
and outer wheel bearing
tried about 50 times to get the star
wheel to move (with the automatic 
adjuster lever pushed back) to no
avail
tried to get the drum off anyway,
no such luck
cursed a lot

So, sparing y'all from the expletives
that resounded off the walls of my 
garage, does anybody have any ideas
as to how I can get these off?
