MSD Advance

Actually, you're being too hard on yourself. Since the
distributor rotates, you could lag the spark so far
that it could be defined as happening in advance!
All you have to do is get it through the first revolution.
I'm sure that was what your subconcious was
thinking at the time, and why it didn't warn you <g>.
Speaking of the first revolution:
I don't know anything about the MSD units. It would
seem logical that you would want
two settings, one for starting and one for running
This shouldn't be a big deal,
just use the starter signal to hold the spark to max
retard. Save wear and tear on the starter and
battery. Do they do that?
Speaking of timing, when is somebody on the list
going to try the J&S Knock Sensor unit?
It's certainly not worth the $395 unless you're going
to autocross (mental picture of a Scout at a 45 deg angle, or
better yet, a Travellette completely demolishing a set of cones)
but that shouldn't stop one of us techno-heads from going for
it anyway.
