You Mean a "Linear", don't you?

Ah yes, the CB "Linear" or "Foot-Warmer" as they used to be called in the
'70's. I have no idea what kind of linears are being peddled these days,
but back then, let's see, they made 'em with several (maybe 10-20 depending
on power output) television horizontal output tubes in parallel. As I
recall, the tubes were biased that if you stayed "key-up" for more than a
few seconds the plates glowed cherry red. Also, they were extremely dirty,
you could cover all 23 (man, is he old) channels at once! This was during
the CB craze in the Detroit, Michigan area where the background noise was
at "S-9"!
