carb question
Hello all,
I have a carb question for those of you familiar with the Thermoquad. I
recently swapped the manifold and carb from my 79 Traveler junkyard find to
my 77 Traveler. Since the temperature made it up to a high of 15 below that
day I didn't spend alot of time in the yard drawing diagrams for the hoses
and fittings, especially since my wife's 79 Traveler also has the 4 barrel
so I figure I would just double check with her truck when hooking everything
up. Well, the junker Thermoquad has one fitting which the other one doesn't
have. I looked in the Carter carb book I have to see if the exploded parts
diagram showed the fitting but it didn't. The fitting in question comes out
of the plastic body just above the mounting bolt on the front passenger
side. It's brass, it's about 1 1/4 inch long , and it has a very small
orifice compared to the other vacume ports. The diameter of this pipe is
much smaller than the two smaller vacuum nipples which come out of the front
base plate on the carb. It looks as though it could be a vapor vent to or
from the float bowl, but the question is, is it left open or does it attach
to a vacuum hose? If someone has this version of the Theroquad on their IH,
or has a better carb manual than mine perhaps you could help me figure out
he correct hookup on this.
Regards,
Garry
