I was just about to ask a similar question regarding door latches. My 72
Scout II has both systems . The drivers side can be pushed down, but the
passenger side cannot. I have to wait for the passenger to get out and
close the door to lock it. Or go around the outside and use the key. I
thought maybe a piece was missing or broken. I've looked at both lock
assemblies, because they were both broken when I bought my Scout, and
can't see a difference. My Mom says that a lot of older cars were set up
this way. I'm curious to the answers you get to your question.
